Local community building is a field of practices coordinated towards the creation or upgrade of local areas among people inside a regional area like a neighborhood with a similar interest. In community development, a wide variety of practices can be utilized for community building ranging from simple events, small book clubs to larger-scale efforts such as mass festivals and building construction projects that involve local participants rather than outside contractors. Activists engaged in community-building efforts and industrialized nations see the apparent laws of the community and lead as a key cause of social disintegration and the emergence of many harmful behaviors. They may see building community as a means to increase social justice, individual wellbeing and reduce negative impacts of otherwise, disconnected individuals.

Companies provide employment for the local community helping them to reduce unemployment and they often sell and make lots of their goods and services to the residents which provides prosperity for the area. To build a local community the businesses focus on the recent issues and make it their area of interest by publicizing it with their schemes such as providing awareness and sponsorships. Companies often build links with many working sectors such as the education sector and with the other members of the community. They organize charity events and give money for good causes as it can improve their reputation and show that they are a socially responsible organization. Other opportunities working with educational sectors i.e. schools and colleges are they might provide work experience or they might have some guest speakers that they can send into schools. Hence it is a very beneficial relationship between the company and the local community.
Challenging if the Business Activities Should Stop or Continue
The environment is a massive issue as business activities can have a negative impact on the local environment. Increased traffic, congestion, pollution, and noise can have a bad impact on business activities so businesses need to show their concern about the local environment and behave in an ethical way. The local community has an external stakeholder which can influence business. For instance, if a company is going to build a waste disposal site with many lorries coming and going in a residential area, the residents might object in writing to the council about the new business opening and they might try to hold up and block the planning permission for new sites and new developments. So the local community building can influence businesses by petitioning against new developments and objecting to planning permissions thus making it challenging for the company to decide if they can continue working there or not.
