Is the Wii running out of steam?

danger @ 12:38 am
Despite it still being completely sold out in the US and UK, Wii sales are showing signs of slowing in Japan as players settle into Nintendo’s new generation…

I would say the short answer is no. Full article.

  1. Given that the article is nice and vague about how much of a “slow down” sales in Japan are seeing, I can’t comment directly but….

Are these guys fucking moronic? Did they expect the Wii to sell at the same scale and rate perpetually for the rest of time?
As of early January the Wii had sold just shy of 1 million consoles in Japan - an astounding figure considering the fact that it was only available for 1 month and was hard to come by due to high demand…
Basically, 1% of the Japanese population went out and bought the Wii within the space of 30 days… and what lunatic would expect this type of demand to remain?
