More apple iPhone - hands on
New York Times article after spending an hour with the iPhone. Also: Gizmodo iPhone Hands-On. And Nokia responds to the iPhone:
“They had music, internet, an email deal with Yahoo and a deal with Google, but it is a 2G device, not 3G, which was a surprise to me,” he says. “And it’s coming first to the US market with Cingular, so let’s see. But overall, it’s very exciting for us.”

Yay, Lara Croft in Ireland!
Feshti's back and this time he's counting down the top 10 movie opening scenes of all time.
Is American opinion and culture crowding out all others?
[…] In other exciting[2] it seems the whole world and its mother is talking about the new Apple iphone thingy. […]

a few problems here imo:
-2G (every web thing will be slow, not a hope of downloading tracks or the likes)
-No removable battery (obvious concern with Apple products)
-600 for a phone! = Creative Zen 60GB Vision + 300 for a cool phone!
-Big screen to crack & its not like you can put a cover on it either cos its a touch screen device.
..the list goes on and on

Not convinced that 2G is a problem GPRS/EDGE is fine for the twoddly things I tend to use on my 3G phone (football scores) … and it has WiFi for when something heavy is needed. Granted WiFi is not ubiquitous as yet but there is coverage where I am the majority of the time (work/home).
Regardless - the major positive for me is it is going to force the current phone kings into a MAJOR MAJOR rethink. Just like Mac OS did back in the day.
Everything out now is clunky, crappy and boring - look at the Nokia top o-the-line models, the Blackberry, Treo etc. They will have to adapt / and most likely copy many of the features on the iPhone.
A step in the right direction for phone design … IMHO
