Leave the car at home and get the booze bus
Community Affairs Minister Eamon Ó Cuív said he favoured expanding country transport services to run up until midnight to allow drinkers to leave their cars at home.He insisted excessively drunk or disorderly people would be barred from the shuttle service and that the Government subsidy needed to run it would cost much less per head than that for urban routes like Nitelink in Dublin.
The move came as Independent TD Michael Lowry criticised random breath testing in rural areas due to the lack of alternative public transport available.
I’m not sure if that’s just badly put by the Examiner; but it implies that Michael Lowry is criticising the law being upheld in rural areas. Ah sure go on we’re only wanting a few pints and then to murder ourselves and/or others on the way home.

Yay, Lara Croft in Ireland!
Feshti's back and this time he's counting down the top 10 movie opening scenes of all time.
Is American opinion and culture crowding out all others?
I hope they passengers will need to pay a fare to make the service commercially viable? If so, it can be compared to the nightlink service in Dublin, if not the state is sanctioning, paying for and encouraging people to go out and drink heavily.
I feel sorry for any businessman or woman that has to close up their company, but market forces are market forces and the State should not interfere to prop businesses up where customers aren’t bothered enough to make their own way there.

Michael Lowry is a fucktard and has demonstrated this in the past. Funny that he’s in the same constituency as those councillor asshats that were whinging about the same thing before christmas.
Anyways, I think its pretty clear that O’Cuiv is just fishing for votes here, what with the upcoming election.
