Saddam Hussein Sentenced to Death
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein was convicted and sentenced Sunday to hang for crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town, as the ousted leader, trembling and defiant, shouted “God is great!”
Opinion: Nobody has the right to choose if someone else should live or die.
Update: Was the verdict timed to help with the US elections?

Yay, Lara Croft in Ireland!
Feshti's back and this time he's counting down the top 10 movie opening scenes of all time.
Is American opinion and culture crowding out all others?
How many Iraqis have been killed by US/UK Forces again?

See the rumblings about how this was timed to be announced just before the US midterm elections on Tuesday? Tut tut tut.

Would gassing him be an appropriate punishment?
Comment by Confucius — November 6, 2006 @ 12:53 pm
No, but throwing him in a dark damp prison cell where he never gets to see the light of day ever again would.
Comment by Keith — November 6, 2006 @ 7:49 pm
i’d say his death will fuel the fire for another, oh i dont know, 100,000 to a million people slaughtered over the next decade or so? what a fucked up,embarassing failure of western-imposed ideology upon middle eastern idiocy. ive fucking had it.

Im confused. What are the last 3 comments about? Maybe if the people who wrote them could articulate themselves better, I could articulate an interesting response. the words ‘DONT HURT ME’ are pretty cool, I can think of a million things it could mean. I’m saying this because I enjoy rational debate on this cool issue.

cant take someones life?
excuse me. you take away someones life when you lock them up.

killing saddam means the knock on effect of the death of far more people. locking him up is logical and humane, whether it is ‘taking his life’ or not. murder, although primitive and ghastly, is necessary when it saves lives. eg, when a man walks into a school and starts shooting random children, or a dog starts mauling a human baby, you have the right to defend humanity against ignorance. or hitler acting the fool, etc. saddam was orchestrated to be far more criminal than he was. he is a murderer, but compared to bush and his friends, who have killed FAR MORE people for oil, he is as pure as morning snow. i’m off for a drive( me wanting to drive is part of the problem!) the moral is: plant trees, not war !

actually planting trees in the wrong places does more harm than good, plant them in hot climates rather than cold.
Comment by Owwmykneecap — December 30, 2006 @ 1:23 am
planting trees is never harmful. more trees, more good
Comment by poy — December 31, 2006 @ 10:56 am
incorrect, it’s not that simple
