Metro allegedly takes Irish Blogger’s photograph without permission and more
Red Mum, a popular Irish blogger who takes fantastic photos around Dublin, points out on her blog that it looks like Metro, Dublin’s daily morning free sheet used one of her photos without permission. She posts about that here. Daragh of the Dublin Community Blog goes a step further claiming that Metro got the idea for their entire where have all our ducks gone story from his post. TCAL also picked up on Daragh’s story, so it’s also possible that Metro saw the story here on TCAL too. Red Mum quite rightly sent off an invoice to Metro, and Twenty Major says in the comments on her post:
The very least you deserve is a front page apology and thousands of euros in compensation.

See, this is the thing with the internet. I knew nothing of the fact that ye guys had written about it either (and certainly don’t have a problem with that, that’s how blogs work!). I, nor anyone else, can read every publication out there every day to see if they’re using our pictures or words or ideas. It’s a pain, but I certainly think the Irish blogging community should start keeping an eye out for each other, and see if our work is in fact being reproduced elsewhere.
