Tubridy vs. Slugger O’Toole and IrishElection.com
Ryan Tubridy takes on the ordinary persons view of blogging, (ie. pointless) and takes Mick Fealty (Slugger O’Toole) and Cian O’Flaherty (Irishelection.com) to task on what’s the point of it all and why should anyone bother reading. Slugger O’Toole post which has an MP3 link you can listen to and it’s worth it. They were on the radio as part of the publicity for tomorrow’s Blogging the Election conference.
Tubridy: take someone like Matt Drudge for example, take someone like Guido Falkes who I’d never heard of until this morning
…now I’m pretty savvy, in terms of I read my papers and I listen to the radio and I watch the news, or whatever, I’m not as technical as you guys clearly but blogging doesn’t feature in my life whatsoever, because I feel I want to read professionals; I want to read people who’ve been to college and who’ve learnt their craft, and not a couple of guys knocking around with a laptop.
So is Tubridy on the money or is he just behind the times?

Yay, Lara Croft in Ireland!
Feshti's back and this time he's counting down the top 10 movie opening scenes of all time.
Is American opinion and culture crowding out all others?
Tubridy is not only behind the times he’s an enormous, closed minded, blinkered, cliché spouting cunt.
I bet he said ‘blog’ like a Nazi says ‘jew’.

My god, that is shocking his Matt Drudge comment.
Mat Drudge has made a mint from citezen Journalism. his site gets millions of viewers a day. Drudge might be a real prick, but you have to admire him for his success.
He now has a syndicated radio show heard in all fifty states in the US.

He didnt really sound like he was interested in listening to the two lads at all - much more of just preaching his viewpoint?

‘Craftsman’ Tubridy has spoken to Mick & Ciann who dares to speak of Bertiegate!
Suitably reprimanded!

I’m sure Drudge is about to give up the whole concept of blogging now that a brainless, cack-toothed, rednecked, classless, illiterate bogtrotter presenting an unwatchable talk show on a provincial, parochial, sub-urbane national broadcaster in the backwoods of the Catholic ghettos has taken him to task.
You show those amateurs how a real professional does it whats-yer-name.

I’ve heard of Slugger, I’ve heard of Guido - who the fuck is Tubridy (and how do you pronounce it?)?>
Comment by Up North — October 7, 2006 @ 10:01 am
It’s pronounced ‘Wanker’.

The problem is, Mr. Tubridy coming to view this thread would have his views of blogging reinforced, mainly due to the pointless name calling.
Not defending him in some starry eyed fan way, just pointing out the obvious.
Comment by xiel — October 7, 2006 @ 2:30 pm
Blogging provides people the freedom to call people names. You can’t go on another radio show and call him a wanker or anything else because you’ll get fired/never invited back.
And while the insults and name calling might be petty and childish it’s not really a reflection of why he thinks blogging is irrelevant.
