The Community At Large wins Best Group Blog Award

The Community At Large won Best Group Blog last night at The Irish Blog Awards. Thanks to all those who nominated & voted for us. The award was sponsored by boards.ie. We were nominated along with the following excellent sites:
Balrog
Blather
In Fact, ah.
Slugger O’Toole
Throughout the night all of us talked to quite a large number of people, and in the harsh light of Sunday morning we have to admit that there’s definately a mix up over names; but here’s our partial list of blogs who we slurred our words at talked to:
Robin, Geared Up Blog
Bernard, RunningWithBulls.com - The curse of Sanfermin
John Breslin, boards.ie/cloudlands
Sinead Gleeson, Sigla Blog
Rick O’Shea, The Half-Arsed Blog Of RTE 2FM’s Rick O’Shea
Sarah Carey, Gubu
Daragh, Dublin Metroblogs
Winds & Breezes
Disillusioned Lefty
Since alchohol inhibits our hive mind abilities, there will no doubt be people who are left off this list: Leave a comment! Congratulations and thanks once again to the organiser Damien Mulley and to host Rick O’Shea.
Maman Poulet has put up a full list of the winners and I expect there will be something similar at the official awards site soon.

Yay, Lara Croft in Ireland!
Feshti's back and this time he's counting down the top 10 movie opening scenes of all time.
Is American opinion and culture crowding out all others?
congrats to everyone at TCAL!

Great to meet you, TCAL guys. Sorry I couldn’t remember all the names. My brain had become a vodka sponge by that time.

Hey Guys, great meeting up with ye lot, what a nice bunch of lads (and token lass!). I no doubt was spouting shite when I was talking to ye, it was a long time from my first pub of the day at lunchtime yesterday, but, such are the joys of a rugby weekend!
Anyways, keep up the good work!!

Hi Norm !
Sharon here from ‘1169 And Counting…’ .
I think , with a comment such as yours (above) , you deserve MORE than a mere “phone call” . The ‘Boys’ are on the road as I type : we have your URL …..
;-)
(…and I really hope it means more to you than that … ?)

-Hi Norm !
Delighted you like the 1916 Proclamation - and equally delighted to learn that you have it on prominent display : hope Mrs. Norm does’nt mind … !
But keep a close eye on it (or better still nail it to the wall) - the rest of ‘TCAL’ that were in the hotel that night look a right rough crowd of ner-do-wells : they might attempt to lift it on you !
Incidentally - John from this parish (who was at the Blog Awards for our blog) told me later that it was the first hotel ‘conference’ he left WITHOUT being pulled-in by the Special Branch ….!
Anyway - congrats to ye all on the win that night : deserved ! Now - get the hammer and a few six-inch nails …
…if not for the Proclamation , then to defend yourself when the Boys come calling …
Slan go foill anois ,
Sharon .
