4. In the home counties the Police are better equipped for such brutish behaviour. They all carry a pocket full of brightly coloured beads or marbles. In the event of a riot, these should be thrown pell mell in a direction opposite to the officer. The average riot member will be thrown into momentary confusion ( as he is geneitcally programmed to respond to bright lights, sudden movements and the sight of larger) and will either stand dumbstruck or chase after thses glinting objects. Thus an arrest can be made while the villan is preoccupied.

6. I don’t think violence will solve anything which is a cliche I know but its a cliche for a reason. Everybody needs to change their attitude. The best thing to do is to “be the change you wish to see in the world” (Dalai Lama). It rubs off on others slowly but surely and really does work!

8. it would be interesting if everyone just left dublin when they marched their tellytubby march. that way, there’d be no tax payers money wasted on security. no innocent people injured. and if people want to go along and throw bricks and bleed and be silly and child like and sick and stupid, fair enough. let them all play their kiddy games. fuck ‘em. of course, theyd have free reign to topple cars and smash everything…but with the Tycoon sick fuck insurance companies in ireland, charging forty trillion euro for fuck all,no one actually looses out.

   then when the fighting ends, we come home and have a cup of tea.

   basically the marchers and protesters are twiddly children, best left to fuck themselves up while we have a nice stroll in the mountains.

The riots were in essence a politically motivated event that was hijacked by the delinquent element of dublin youth. the cynacism shown in most of the posts betrays a lack of understanding of human mob behaviour. In the right circumstances we will all become oppurtunistic looters. once it was clear that the Gardai had lost control all of the base aggressive and selfish mob elements of people came out.
    we can joke about this as much as we want but this is a human reaction to a set of circumstances and anyone who believes that they are above such horrible acts needs only to look at Napoleaons invasion of Russian in 1812, looting and canabalism became the status quo after the army began to fall apart. Depending on the circumstances anyone can be a rioter. this does and not, I want to make this clear, excuse in any way what these people did on that day. The fact that we are all capable does not mean that we should react in such a way to a expression of democracy (in the guise of a march of an organisation from the North). Ireland failed a test on this day, the test of our ability to be accepted as a modern, mature nation. there are those among us, who at the drop of a hat will become violent. food for thought I think you’ll all agree.

15. What we done that day im very proud of. hundreds irsh men were killed outside the g.p.o for u’s ungratfull little wanna-be- brits.
