Bray Vista

conor @ 7:14 pm

I’m going to post about this band because they put on a brilliant live show in Whelan’s last Friday night. I went along on spec after hearing them do a session on John Kelly’s excellent Mystery Train, and I was only mightily impressed. None of the major record stores (including those that claim to support Irish bands) seem to be stocking their CDs. Check out their website.

Half-Price trick

fence @ 10:41 am

Not sure of the exact reason behind it, but its amusing enough. Group of people got a load of t-shirts printed up with Half-Price Sale and headed in to linger around major shops. More on the SpaceJackers site

“I have been informed by the manager that you are all allowed to stay in the store, however you must remove your t-shirts”
As we walked off to our next target we were given a round of applause from the Apple staff.

Government holographic time travel conspiracy

danger @ 10:41 am

Whatever this is about, I do believe we’ve just found one of the best sentences in the world.

I have enclosed below a series of pictures to show how the US government starting around 1994 went back in time with remote sensing and holographic radiation longitudinal emf and sound wave holographic energy beams as shown in the movie time tunnel to place different computer generated holographic archetypes of different Nordic, Celtic, and Aryan faces and other attributes around my body as if I were a microcosm of the center of the universe, Adam, and God, to change the genetic attributes, facial form, eye color, hair color, voice sound, and many other body attributes throughout my life year by year from my birth (1962, Jan 23 Midnight) to the present representing correlation’s between the years in my life and the ages of evolution and history from the beginning of time to the present.

Bush vs. Blair

danger @ 10:27 am

Someone tee-hee-hee’d their way through remixing Bush & Blair to make them swear an awful lot at each other. Lots of bad language. Watch now at Compfused.

Triumph the dog on Global Warming

danger @ 10:19 am

triumph
Triumph goes to Washington to talk about global warming. Good.

Life in the Undergowth

danger @ 9:32 am

David Attenbrough’s new show starts tonight - Life in the Undergrowth - and judging by these pics, it looks absolutely brilliant:

One of the most remarkable creatures featured is the giant bat-eating centipede. This formidable predator lives in caves in Venezuela and can grow to 33cm long. The method of attack has been filmed for the first time.

Kick ass.

swanksigns

Pages and pages and pages of crazy real life signs.

Google Resumercial

danger @ 1:11 am

This guy; “Shane Wright” wants a job at Google so he made this video. Have a watch. Finely honed satire or genuine ridiculousness? Whichever; prepare to cringe. Google Resumercial.

Quake 4 demo released

danger @ 12:36 am

Quake 4 demo released. It’s a who-gives-a-shit-em-up.

World Chess Beauty Contest

danger @ 12:27 am

It’s the World Chess Beauty Contest. What? You hadn’t heard about the wcbc? I’ve no idea what’s going on at this site, so I’d be tempted slap a NSFW or some such warning on it - just cause it seems so weird. (via.)

Clamnuts interviews Perry Bible Fellowship creator

danger @ 12:01 am

Clamnuts has a short interview up with Nicholas Gurewitch, creator of TCAL favourite The Perry Bible Fellowship (First post mentioning it from last year).

Bob: How many publications are your comics in now? Have you gone down the self syndication route?
NG: The PBF appears in at least 20 different publications that pay. I share it with a bunch of college papers too. I’m also very excited that it’s running in my old high school’s newspaper. There’s no syndicate involved in the syndication. The Universal Press Syndicate called me a while ago, but they were looking for something with less violence & no sex.

Aeon Flux explained

danger @ 7:15 pm

aeon comic
Neat little strip explaining the history of Aeon Flux. The Not-So-Secret History of ‘Aeon Flux.’ Looks like the studio is so frightened of the film they’re not allowing critics advance screenings. It doesn’t look good folks.

Except.

It has Charlize Theron in it jumping about the place in a black one piece. That’s worth at least a +3 score on IMDB. And look at the glowing review at IMDB, so apparently someone got an advanced screening, or maybe Charlize made that comment.

Nizlopi: JCB Song guitar tab

danger @ 10:40 am

We’ve been getting a lot of people hitting the site looking for the guitar tab for Nizlopi’s JCB Song - well here are two versions, with one more detailed than the other. JCB Song guitar tab. If anyone has any more versions they’d like to share, drop a note in the comments.

Update: There’s some people working out tabs/chords in the comments on this post.

Golden Spiders Awards 2005

danger @ 10:35 am

Any awards that you have to pay to enter is obviously suspect, so take this short list with a pinch of salt. Golden Spiders Awards 2005 shortlist. Also more rumblings about the spiders on Creative Ireland. (via.) And something I didn’t notice earlier: There’s no hyperlinks to the sites nominated. It’s just a list. That’s unbelievably stupid.

Xbox 360: Water Balloons

danger @ 12:29 am

Good ad for the xBox 360. It’s the sound effects that make it. Water Balloons.
