Pay Up Girls

danger @ 1:06 pm

Quality story via Dave’s Rants.

In 2003, Thomas McMahon, a Clareman complained to the Tribunal about the Icon nightclub. McMahon said that their “Ladies’ Night” policy, where girls got in free before 1am while guys had to pay, was discriminatory and illegal under section 3(1) of the Equal Status Act 2000. What sounds like a drunken idea went for full investigation by an Equality Officer. The Icon got their solicitors on the case.

I won’t spoil it, read the whole thing at Alive in Limerick.

  1. It’s about time that somebody pulled a club on it. My pet hate is the ‘Regulars only’ or ‘Members only’ line used by bouncers. What I have to be an alcoholic who comes here seven nights a week to get entry?
