Apple sell 1 million videos in 20 days

danger @ 8:33 pm
“Selling 1 million videos in less than 20 days strongly suggests there is a market for legal video downloads,” Steve Jobs, chief executive officer, said in a statement. “Our next challenge is to broaden our content offerings, so that customers can enjoy watching more videos on their computers and new iPods.”

No shit. Full story.

I/O Brush

tim @ 5:49 pm

I/O Brush

I/O Brush is a new drawing tool to explore colors, textures, and movements found in everyday materials by “picking up” and drawing with them. I/O Brush looks like a regular physical paintbrush but has a small video camera with lights and touch sensors embedded inside. Outside of the drawing canvas, the brush can pick up color, texture, and movement of a brushed surface. On the canvas, artists can draw with the special “ink” they just picked up from their immediate environment.

Wamono

danger @ 2:08 pm

wamono
Cool music. Cool animation. I did a google search for Wamono. Here’s a bit of info it turned up on the animation:

Beat junkies Hifana play two determined fisherman who set sail in hopes of a huge catch in this folkloric Japanese tale of man and his beats against the raging waves and stormy seas.

Have a watch: Wamono.

Peter Jackson actually concerned about King Kong Game

danger @ 1:59 pm

Wow I’m impressed, and I missed all this. Peter Jackson dropped EA Games from making the King Kong games and has hired Ubisoft instead. - Although the EA Games Lord of the Rings titles were very commercially successful, the general consensus was that they were pretty lame games. (I played ROTK for about 5 levels - talk about Double Dragon gameplay.) Jackson has revealed he didn’t like working with EA Games too. Read more here at joystiq and here at double agent.

Best ever Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Halloween episodes

danger @ 1:53 pm

This guy has put together what he thinks is a top 10 list of the best treehouse of horror episodes. He hits the nail on the head with one point:

Now you may notice that all of the selections are from Seasons 2-9, but lets face it, Season 9 was the last time The Simpsons was any good anyway…

But I don’t agree with his list. What about the one where Homer goes 3D? Check out the list.

Lamb and Lynx Gaede: Prussian Blue

danger @ 3:56 pm

gaede twins

Thirteen-year-old twins Lamb and Lynx Gaede have one album out, another on the way, a music video, and lots of fans.

They may remind you of another famous pair of singers, the Olsen Twins, and the girls say they like that. But unlike the Olsens, who built a media empire on their fun-loving, squeaky-clean image, Lamb and Lynx are cultivating a much darker personna. They are white nationalists and use their talents to preach a message of hate.

Songs like “Sacrifice” — a tribute to Nazi Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s deputy Fuhrer — clearly show the effect of the girls’ upbringing. The lyrics praise Hess as a “man of peace who wouldn’t give up.”

Wow, Friday afternoon 13 year old white supremist girls brainwashed by upbringing reading fun. Or Fa13yowsgbburf. Or Fucking hell that’s scary. Full story. Thanks dave.

Pyramid found in Bosnia?

danger @ 9:46 am

If this is true, this is really cool.

Bosnia’s leading Muslim daily Dnevni Avaz writes excitedly about “a sensational discovery” of “the first European pyramid” in the central town of Visoko, just north of Sarajevo.

Excavations at a hill site above the town have been going on for several months and initial analyses “have confirmed the original claim that this is Europe’s first pyramid and a monumental building, similar in dimensions to the Egyptian pyramids.”
