Bit Torrent gets $8.75 million in funding

The speculation on this is going to be big…what is Bit Torrent, which started as an internet protocol, going to do with all the cash? Supply services around it’s protocol? Vastly improve the efficiency? As waxy comments:

isn’t this like investing in FTP or HTTP?

Well yeh, until we see what services they launch. But it could be used by detractors that keep trying to say Bit Torrent is an evil file sharing tool, when really it’s just a protocol, and attacking it is as useful as attacking email. Few links at Om Malik’s blog.
