Spain Legalises Same-Sex Marriage

danger @ 4:36 pm
The Spanish Parliament gave final approval today to a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, making Spain only the second nation to eliminate all legal distinctions between same-sex and heterosexual unions, according to supporters of the bill.

The measure, passed by a vote of 187 to 147, establishes that couples will have the same rights, including the freedom to marry and to adopt children, regardless of gender.

Dog Shit Girl

danger @ 2:10 pm

dog shit girl
This girl on a subway train in Korea - her dog did a shit on the ground and when other passengers told her to clean it up, she wouldn’t and became annoyed. Some guy with a camera took her photo, and then posted it on a popular website. Soon she’d been photoshopped, ridiculed, her identity revealed and people trying to find her relatives and more. Talk about public humiliation and invasion of privacy.(via.) More. And more from The Korea Times.

M50 opens today

danger @ 1:30 pm

The final section of the M50 opens today from 4pm. Great news for all you rich people with cars. The Carrickmines interchange type bits aren’t open.

While there will be celebrations, rows are continuing over why an idea conceived 34 years ago only reached construction stage 17 years later and was completed today at a vastly inflated price.

What could have made Sideways Better

danger @ 11:57 am

Sideways (8/10 on IMDB) is a good film. But National Lampoon is sick and tired of that, and offers up several excellent ways in which the film could have been improved.

One thing you might have noticed about Sideways is that, for the duration of its two-hour running time, nothing ever fucking happens. My improved, adrenaline-pumped Sideways features a cameo by Steven Seagal, who goadingly announces his hatred for all wine at a wine tasting event, then gets into a drag-down karate fight with a bushel of grapes.

Here’s the kicker: the grapes win the fight. Steven Seagal is shamed, and does one-handed push-ups in several high-octane training sequences.

Go have a read.

Save Toby: He dies today

danger @ 12:13 am

Toby dies today. The guy only got 28,000 dollars, and he needed 50,000 or else he’d eat Toby. Click. (Previous story.)

Update: He changed the website:

Unfortunately, on November 6th, 2006, Toby will die. I am going to eat him. I am going to take Toby to a butcher to have him slaughter this cute bunny. I will then prepare Toby for a midsummer feast. I have several recipes under consideration, which can be seen, with some pretty graphic images, under the recipe section.

What a dick.

Make Poverty History Rally

danger @ 11:33 pm

Don’t forget, the Dublin rally for Make Poverty History is on Thursday 30th at 6.30pm. Website for the rally.

Make your Voice Heard
Dublin 30 June 6.30pm – Starting from Parnell Square
On Thursday 30 June, as leaders of the world’s richest countries prepare to go to Scotland for the G8 summit, and tens of thousands of campaigners prepare to rally in Edinburgh, thousands will gather in Dublin to send this message to the G8 leaders:

Enough is enough.

We want trade justice, debt cancellation, and more and better aid for the world’s poorest countries. Be there. Make your voice heard. Make History in 2005.

Agree or not, it’s still a bit of crack walking down the street pointing and laughing at people who’s clothes are different to your clothes.

Why I am not a Christian

danger @ 9:12 pm

Bertrand Russell was an influential philosopher and mathematician who died in 1950. A bit of history from Wikipedia :

Russell’s views on religion can be found in his popular book, Why I Am Not a Christian: And Other Essays on Religion and Related Subjects … which began as a talk given March 6, 1927 at Battersea Town Hall, under the auspices of the South London Branch of the National Secular Society, England. The speech was published later that year as a pamphlet, which, along with other essays, was eventually published as a book. In the book, Russell considers a number of logical arguments for the existence of God, including the first cause argument, the natural-law argument, the argument from design, and moral arguments. He also goes into specifics about Christian theology.

We’ll get back to the games, movies and other useless crap later, for now read the speech if you haven’t already: Why I am not a Christian. It’s not too long and it puts forth a view of the world that will save us all.
