Sorry that the boards front-page branding isn't to your liking (I think that you're probably not alone in this); unfortunately I am an electronic engineer by training, not a graphics designer, but I do like to dabble. It's probable that boards.ie will change branding sometime in the near future, as our Art / Design moderator Figment has been sprouting designs like stubble this past year, and I am only part-owner after all. boards.jp and boards.us will probably remain as is.
