History

The Community At Large started off in a static website format in December 1997 and lasted for about 4 months. After that it reappeared in April 1998 in a magazine format, published once or twice a month until November 1998. On September 12th 2004 the site relaunched in the blog style format you are looking at now.

FAQ

Last updated: 30/10/05

1. What does TCAL stand for?
The Community At Large

2. What does the site do?

Provides entertainment to visitors in any form we deem suitable.

3. How can I be a part of the site?
Find out how to register and post your own stuff on TCAL. You can also rate posts, leave comments and use the contact form to send us tips and suggestions.

4. I have my own blog/site, why would I post on TCAL?
Because your site is for stuff about you, keep it for that, and stick links and news about the random stuff you find on the net or around Ireland here.

5. Why do I have to wait 24 hours before I can post?
This is to stop reg and spam people, or at least slow them down.

6. It says the site started in 1997 but the archives only go back to September 2004. Explain.
That’s not a question. There are indeed extensive archives, but they’re not online, because the material is pretty crap and slags people personally, which was funny at the time but not suitable now. So you can just make do and believe in the myths of an awesome globalised organisation thats been running for 8 years now.

7. Can I syndicate tcal.net?
Yes.

8. I’m offended by something on the site.
Little red X in the top right of your browser, use it.

9. I’m under 18
TCAL.NET is intended for readers over the age of 18 only.

10. What does NSFW stand for?
NSFW means Not Safe For Work, as in the contents of the link are adult in nature, may contain nudity/adult content, extreme violence, loads of swearing etc. …Basically anything that might embarass you at work.

11. Is danger one person?
Sort of.
